The Universe episode 1

Recently, I watched the TV series The Universe. It is a science documentary about everything and our own universe. This show uses a lot of close-ups on the show’s presenters the close-ups are important because it allows the viewer to feel as if the host was talking directly to them, thus making the show more interesting. The close-ups also allow the viewer to perceive some of the excitement that the presenter feels as they talked about new series or discoveries. The show also uses a lot of voice overs. This helps the host explain what the viewer is seeing as the show portrays a computer generated simulation/image. Advertisements for the show are also very interesting. Mainly, they use a plain folks appeal. This is crucial to the show because it allows the viewer to feel like they understand what’s being presented to them, even though there might be very complicated things behind it. The ads also use a lot of jump cuts to do two things. Firstly, it shows some clips about what the show is going to be like next week. Secondly the jump cuts allow editors to show the highlights of the episode to draw in more viewers that’s boosting their ratings.
