I recently watched The Hangover Part 2. Although it
was my twelfth time viewing the film, I found myself laughing through its
entirety. I found that the actors in the film, especially Ed Helms, played
their characters excellently. The persona the actors put on throughout the film
enhanced the plot and definitely added to the humor. I noticed that medium
shots were used heavily throughout the film, especially while characters were
conversing. I believe this allows the audience to better connect with the characters
and the plot as these shots allow the viewer to feel as though they are also in
the conversation, listening in on what the characters have to say. Medium shots
also allow for the viewer to see the characters’ facial expressions, which
convey the characters’ feelings at certain points in the film. Medium shots of
short duration were also used during action scenes; the purpose of this likely
being to make evident the fast pace and urgency of the action occurring in the
film. I noticed a low angle shot was used on a character, Stew, during a scene
where he is cussing at the police. The low angle shot in the scene causes Stew
to appear powerful and dangerous to the viewer. Montage was also used during one
part of the film where another character, Allen, is in a Buddhist temple
recalling his previous night with friends. The montage compressed time, as well
as highlighted key events of the night. The montage was also set to music
related to the events in the montage.

i have also watched this movie several times and thought it was very well done and hilarious this movie is unique in the plot because they used basically the same plot as "the hangover" (the first movie of the hangover series)it starts out with them getting togeather for a wedding and they end up going for a bachelor party both times. it turns out that they take some sort of drugs and end up doing crazy things because of it they take a monkey and a monk that has taken a vow of silence. the things that they do though out the movie are so they can try and find the friend that they lost and get back to the wedding on time. they also have to face chalenges because of some of the stuff that they did made people angry and they get lost on where there friend is and then towards the end someone has a break through and figures it out. there also is a montage when alan is mediatting on how to find their friend and he pictures them as little kids and it goes through all the things they ended up doing through out the night and it shows this in a matter of about a minute when in real time it would have been a few hours.
ReplyDeleteWatching the Hangover Part 2 was really interesting. With the simple plot line and stupid jokes, it was one of the weirdest movies I have ever seen. It had an extreme close up on Stu’s face when woke up from a long night. They were showing that he got an extreme tattoo right before his wedding right next to his eye. When the boys are finally going home to get to Stu’s wedding, you will see a lot of tracking. There is a long shot of them coming home because they are on a boat and that is when you also notice the tracking because you are following them to shore. They use lighting a lot in this movie as well to create different illusions for you to see who has importance in the scene. They had action scenes and during these scenes, they use medium shots. Also during the scenes, they have quick camera shots that make you feel the intensity that they are feeling. The music in this movie made some of the incidences funnier than they already are. There was a short montage at the end with pictures to show all of the things that they had experienced that weekend.
ReplyDeleteI also watched the Hangover Part 2 recently, and I think one of the most significant scenes is when the guys, Stu, Doug and Phil go to invite Alan to Stu’s wedding in Thailand. When it starts off the guys are walking through the hallway to get to Alan's room and finally they reach the door to meet Alan. When he opens the door he only opens a tiny bit and you can’t tell what the room is going to look like. But when he opens the door and invites the guys in you see the size of the room and the amount of items that is filled with. The majority of the camera angles are flat angle close ups or medium shots. The camera is centered from all of the guys’ and pans and cuts from each person’s face. It is a medium lighted area and that gives us as the viewer a comfortable sense in side his room and the assortment of random items and pictures on the wall make it very visually entertaining. One of the walls is completely covered by the pictures of “the night that never happened” from the first movie. Music at the end of the scene as it fades into their entrance to the airport gives the views a sense of the movie starting off officially.
