Volkswagon "The Force" commercial
I recently saw a volkswagon commercial on television called "The Force," that I found to be very humurous. The commercial follows a little kid dressed as darth vader around his house as he attempts to use "The force" on various things in the house. The miniature darth vader fails in his attempts to use the force on a treadmill, dog, doll and washing machine among other things, and volkswagon makes it humurous with background music mimicking that seen in the star wars movies and also camera work. As the kid tries to move the dog using the force, a close up is shown of the dogs face to show how thoroughly unamused it is. When the kids dad gets home, he immediately tries to go outside and use the force on the car. This time, the kid believes he has finally done it because the dad uses a keyless start to make the car turn on. The commercial uses plain folks because it features your average American family and then says it is affordably priced at $20,000, making luxury seem possible for the normal family. By featuring a young child, Volkswagon is also trying to portray that it's a good car for a family because of it's safety.
