Obsessed is a psychological thriller that captures your
attention and keeps it throughout the entire movie. The characters and their
drama always keep you guessing. A specific character, Lisa, is especially
important because she has an Electra complex. We learn, via her diary, that
Lisa’s mother left her father and her at a young age. It is also clear that
Lisa is used to getting what she wants from men. These are the basis to her
Electra complex; she has attractions with men and conflicts with women. Lisa is
working as a office temp and has an immediate attraction with the boss, Derek.
She clearly flirts with him, but he believes they are just being friendly, even
when a co-worker points the attraction out. Lisa’s psychological delusion makes
her believe that they are in a relationship and that Derek is going to leave
his wife for her. Even after Derek clearly rejects her at the Christmas party, and
she moves on to other men, Lisa’s Electra complex grows even stronger. She
eventually starts introducing herself as Derek’s wife and attempts to overdose
when he rejects her for a final time. The most obvious conflict with a woman is
with Sharron, Derek’s wife. Lisa breaks into their house to take their child
when Sharron catches her. This leads to a very intense fight scene between the
women: not just over Derek, but also because of Sharron’s motherly role that
Lisa never experienced. The fight finally ends when Lisa dies and Sharron
brings her baby back to Derek.

I have also seen the thriller Obsessed. It is very attention grabbing the moment you start to watch it. The director does an excellent job of keeping the viewers intact with the film by the use of sound and characterization. As the viewers were introduced to the character, Lisa, there was a bad vibe right off the bat. She was seen as a woman who wore black very often and had a very distinct look on her face as if she knew what she wanted. Just the way she was made you think that nothing good was going to come out of her. She manipulated her boss is various ways like listening into his phone calls and reading his e-mails. She had it out for his wife because she was jealous of the life she had. As Lisa broke into their house when his wife wasn’t supposed to be home but only her boss was, the wife turned around to lock the house because she had forgotten too. As she walked into her house, she went upstairs to put their security lock on. As Lisa broke into their house not knowing she was upstairs, as the wife heard a sound, music started to play in the background that caught the viewer’s attention and signified that nothing good was to become of this. As nothing good did come out of it as you have seen stated above.
