Make it or Break it

I watched the Make it or Break it series finale on Monday night. There were many great seasons of the show. All throughout the seasons, it showed three girls, Kaley, Lauren, and Pason as three gymnasts that want to go to the Olympics. Through the seasons, it shows the girls going through training at a gym called “The Rock”. This gym was located in their hometown in Washington. As the girls faced many hardships into becoming ready for the Olympics, there were many instances were backstabbing and trust issues came in the way. Lauren was the main backstabber in this series. Many things came in between the girls as they tried to train well enough to advance. But they never let anything come in between their friendship’s or affect their overall training. It is their dreams to go to the Olympics together as friends. There is a montage of events that led them to where they were today that gives us as the viewers a good idea of what the pressures are to be a serious athlete. The montage also shows the hardships these girls faced as the pressures of training to be good enough to go to the Olympics.

  1. I am also a huge fan of Make It Or Break It! The scenes that I find most interesting in this show are the ones where a gymnast gets an injury. For example, in one episode from last season, Payson falls of the uneven bars at a one of the team's gymnastics meet. They show it in her starting her bar routine in slow motion, and then do a close up on her hands as they grip the bar. They highlight specific parts of the routine and then as she falls, they switch the camera to a high angle. They film this part from the top of the uneven bars, almost like a birds eye view. The use of a high angle as she falls off the bar, really exaggerates the fall and makes it seem much worse than it actually is. It then shows, from a high angle, laying on the mat in pain. It plays sad music in the background so that we sympathize with Payson and her injury.
I think this show is so enjoyable to watch because we get to see all of the gymnasts growth in maturity, character, and gymnastics ability. This show gives the veiwers a "sneak peak" of what it's like to be an olympic gymnast!
