Audi Quattro

This week I saw a commercial for the new Audi Quattro that uses a lot of the propaganda devices and advertising appeals that we have learned about in class.  The commercial uses humor throughout.  In the commercial, a pick-up driver talks about all the kinds of cars he has pulled out of ditches expect for the legendary Audi Quattro.  It is almost like he is a fisherman who is talking about all the fish expect one he has caught.  The commercial then uses humor again by showing the man doing whatever it takes to find the Quattro, such as looking at tire tracks in the snow to see if they match the Quattro.  The commercial also uses music to help enhance the product.  Through the commercial, the music is very calm and uplifting, but when the Audi Quattro passes the man when he is in his truck, the music finally builds up and gets louder, helping to enhance the close call the man had with finally “catching” the Audi.  The commercial also uses snob appeal by saying that the Audi Quattro is “The world’s top selling luxury AWD system” which helps to let the viewer imply that it is an expensive car.  The commercial also ends by using loaded words, saying that the car is known as “The Legendary Audi Quattro”.
