Top Shot

While flipping through the guide today I was curious to try a new show I've never seen before.  Top Shot is like survivor, people get voted off based on the challenges they face during the time they stay at the ranch.  The challenges are of course associated with all kinds of weaponry.  This episode featured SWAT tactics with door busting shotguns and repelling down a building with an FN Five-Seven semi-automatic pistol. Many film techniques can be seen in the first challenge.  First off, when the contestants where at the top of the building, a low angle was used looking up at them to show how high up it is and the courage needed to pull off this stunt.  Also extensive use of slow motion cameras and montages are used to explain out the challenge in detail.  Whenever a target, a glass jar full of green liquid, was hit the slow motion began.  This added dramatic effect and shows you just how powerful the pistols really are.  A montage of impressive shots followed that of the entire structure showing the architecture and somewhat high height even more.  After all the explaining of what to do in the challenge, a close up of each of the contestants faces followed.  You could see in their faces the sheer difficulty of this challenge, and that added to the suspense.  With these combined film techniques it makes the show actually very good and well edited.  I'd defiantly recommend it to a friend to watch.
