Olay commercial

I watched the olay commercial with Carrie Underwood as the actress and I noticed some visual elements as well as some propaganda techniques. This commercial is advertising both Olay make-up but emphasize their face wash more than the make-up. As for visual elements, monochromatic was used in the color blue. The product was a light blue color and the backgrounds such as the walls were also blue emphasizing the stress on the product. There is a variety of propaganda techniques used. Transfer is used in this commercial because the product implies that if you use it, your skin will be clear and smooth like Carrie Underwoods was. The use of testimonial was shown because they use Carrie Underwood as their spokesperson. This was testimonial because Carrie Underwood is a well known person around the world and if she uses this product, many people will because they look up to her as a role model. Sex is also used because Carrie Underwood is seen to be a very appealing woman. And people may think because she uses the product and her face is smooth and clear, if they use it as well, their face will look the same as hers. Also the use of Carrie may attract men to this ad because they may find her attractive.
