Geico: A Bird in the Hand ad

Through a series of ads known as the rhetorical question ads Geico advertises their affordable car insurance in a humorous style.  In this series the announcer comes into view with his face down positioned away from the camera as he is walking towards it and raising his head he asks the viewer the classic catch phrase "Could switching to Geico really save you 15% or more on car insurance?" followed up by a rhetorical/obvious question with the answer implied being yes. In this ad the question is the classic idiom "Is a bird in the hand worth two in the bush?"  The next scene is a parody of Antiques Roadshow and shows a woman getting her 'bird in the hand" appraised for, of course, the value of two in the bush.  The ad seems to be targeted at an older audience because it parodies Antiques Roadshow a show with a primarily older audience.  The main propaganda technique used in this ad was humor.  The funny style of the commercial helps to liken the viewer to the company.  And of course they all use bargain price propaganda when the announcer tells the viewer the could save 15% or more on car insurance.
