In this episode entitled “Venus, Cupid, Folly and Time” there is a scene in the beginning between Bay and Emit where he gets down on his knee and holds up a ring box to her. While she’s freaking out, he opens it and instead of a ring its earplugs and he invites her to his death prom. While Bay is freaking out and protesting, the camera flashes to a close up on Emit holding the box and then directly followed by an extreme close up on the box as he opens it.  The lighting for this scene is flood lighting to create a happier mood. However, there during the close ups the director has chosen to use spot lights through the windows to make light shine on Emit’s face so the viewer can clearly see he intended to prank Bay. As Bay discovers he just pranked her, the mood of the scene lightens even more. The spot lighting in the windows become brighter for the first time in this scene music is played. The music selected is perky and upbeat to correspond with what is happening with the characters. The camera then flashes out so we can see their hands signing (ASL) and read the translations at the bottom then flashes back to a close up of them kissing. Although this is only one scene of the episode it uses a lot of mis en scene to help the viewer comprehend the meaning of the scene.
