Project X
On tuesday me and some friends had tickets to see a earily ralse of the new movie Project X. This movie was about a nerdy kid call Thomas that wanted to be cool for one night and get noticed by the girls for a change. So as his parents leave for a trip him and his boys decide to throw a party at his parents house. At school they tell everyone to come to this party. During the night it gets to about 9:20 and thomas is worried that no one is going to show up but around 10 aclock buses of people show up and the rage starts. There gets to be around 1500 teens at this party and crazy stuff just starts to happen the house gets destoryed and people get stuck in ovens and they crash the kids dads car into the pool and burn the house down pretty much. Once his parents come home it turns into about 2.5 million dollars in damages. When thomas goes back to school all of his classmates start cheering for him because he threw the most legendary party in all of high schools. It was a really funny movie and everyone should go see it and see the funny things that happen at this kids party.
I also had those early screening tickets as well I must say it was a very entertaining movie. The main Character Thomas Kub is not very popular and decides to take advantage of the opportunity to throw this party. He unintentionally gets himself in way too deep as the evening progresses. At many times the camera angles are informal and it is categorized as a “found Film” movie. It was made to look like the boys involved in the party filmed it themselves, apart from few scenes. The lighting is low but with neon color to give off the mood of a party. Also many dancing shots are shown in slow motion to show the emotion and happiness on the faces of those attending the party. One of the most significant scenes of the movie is a shot from a news station. It is shown from an extremely high angle and is made to seem like it is from the helicopter. It pans above the party and shows everyone dancing and continuing to party, however the main characters and those involved in throwing the party are on the roof. The camera zooms in on Thomas Kub and the bright spotlight on his face shows his worry, but then it quickly turns to pride in the party he had thrown for himself.
ReplyDeleteI also saw project x and i must say that i thought it was hilarious. The premise of the nerd who wants to be popular, while overused is given a new and edgy angle in this movie. One thing that i really like about the way this movie is filmed is how they shoot the entire thing in 1st person. Most of the movie is shot by the creepy cameraman Dax although there are some parts that are filmed on what are apparently cell phones by several different characters which offer you a slightly different view as to whats going on. Another thing that i liked about this movie is the way it was edited. You would alternating scenes of the man character (Thomas) freaking out about what his parents are going to do to him, and scenes of him trying to get as messed up a possible. This show an imbalance in his character as he is not sure what he himself wants. Another thing about the editing that i liked was how shots of the main characters were balanced with shots of the overall party to give you some idea of how crazy the party had become. The lighting in the movie is shown to be dark but with a slightly glowing sense(neon lights) which show you the overall feeling and mood of the party,
ReplyDeleteProject X was definitely an entertaining movie. It was filmed all in 1st person too so that gave the audience the perspective of being there instead of just watching it all happening. At some parts the camera is shaking rapidly up and down because the guy filming is running. At one scene we do see a different camera angle that’s with the news helicopter panning over the house, which let’s us see, how many people actually showed up which looked to be about 1,500. In the movie the cops get called because the music is way too loud and the neighbors are trying to sleep. The film technique of sound plays a huge role in this movie because if there was no music then first of all the cops probably wouldn’t have been called due to noise complaint and that would have made the movie digress onto something totally different. Second of all, the music set the mood of a party. The music makes the audience want to actually be there and start to party along with them. Lighting in this movie also helps set the mood of the film as a whole because it’s dark with neon lights, which sets the mood for a party.
ReplyDeleteProject X was definatly a great movie with alot of funny moments.The main plot is a nerdy kid Thomas has a crazy party to be cool. The film techniques help to enhance this party atmosphere. The low neon lights at dark surrondings help to set a happy fun atmospere, the very loud music adds to the fact that people are having fun and doing alot of crazy things. Also in the film there was alot of cool camera and editiing technique.The camera keeps changing from one person to another showing all the crazy things that were going on during the party. At the end of the party the camera changes from the particapents of the party to a helicopter which shhows the whole party in one shot letting the view know the madness that was going on. Also with that shot they put a spotlight on Thomas and zooms on his expression of worry and fea. At the end of the film thought he his celebrated at school for his awesome party
ReplyDeleteProject X is one of the better movies I've seen. It is about an unpopular kid and his friends's attempt to become popular, so they decide to throw a party that gets out of hand. A big technique used in the movie was sound. The music that was being played throughout the movie gave a very energetic, party like mood. This made sense because the movie was based on a very big party. When the police arrived in one scene, the music was turned off to show that the party was stopped. Another technique used was mis en scene. Costa, the character that organized the party, carried a chalice around with him the entire movie. This symbolized that he was the king of the party and that he was the reason the party happened. When he had an encounter with 2 bigger guys that tried to fight him, they knocked the chalice to the ground, showing that his power was temporarily taken away from him. Another technique that was used was a deep focus lens. In the scene after their neighbor called the cops and they tricked the cops into leaving, a deep focus lens was used and the neighbor was in the far distance to show his lack of power.
