Jersey Shore

I watched Jersey Shore last night and I noticed many different techniques. This episode was about Mike and his friend wanting to tell Snooki's current boyfriend, Jionni about Mike and Snookie's romantic past. Mike is hoping this will get the truth out of Snooki once and for all so Mike doesn't look like the liar. In process of Mike and his friend telling Jionni, Mike's friend gets arrested for being extremely intoxicated. As this happened there was a close up on this friends face to show the surprisement in his face. As Mike walks back to the house to get help for his friend, there is a long shot of him walking down the dark streets alone. As he gets home, the lightning gets brighter and there was a better feel of cosiness in the house. There was background music as Mike was calling people to help his friend. It was a low deep dooming music that made you feel as if Mike wasn't going to be able to get help. As Mike kept calling, the music started to get more happier in a sense that Mike got ahold of one of his friends from back home to contact his friends family to let them know their son was in jail. As the morning came, Jionni walked out into the kitchen as Mike was getting off the phone. Mike saw him alone without Snooki so he saw that as a perfect opportunity to talk to Jionni himself since last night didn't work out. When Mike asked Jionni if he could talk to him, there was music that sounded like heavy metal as the audience knew what was going to happen but Jionni had no clue.

  1. Jersey Shore is one of my guilty pleasures, and I watch it every single week. In almost every single episode of this show they lead you to believe that something big is going to happen, through the commercials, and really something totally different happens. Editing plays a big role in this TV series. When you’re flipping through the channels and you catch a preview for the next episode of Jersey Shore, they lead you to believe there is going to be a fight or a crazy incident but really they just edit together clips that would seem dramatic together. They make you want to watch it because it looks exciting, dramatic and overall entertaining! The editing techniques that they have been using are great for their viewings. At the end of every episode they also seem to end it at a drama filled part, so you have to continue watching it to figure out what is going to happen next. For example an episode two weeks ago they ended the show with Mike confronting Snooki’s boyfriend about her cheating. They end it making it look like something serious is going to happen next episode, but really the next episode nothing big at all happened. The power of editing is a good tool for this show, because it has been on for a while now with the same people and it has been becoming boring, but every week they make you believe something big is going to happen so they suck you right back in to watching it anyway.
