Country Strong

Last weekend, I watched the movie Country Strong. with Gwenyth Paltrow, Leighton Meester, and Tim McGraw.  The movie is about a country singer named Kelly that has to go to rehab for her alcoholism.  Once she's out of rehab, her husband James wants her to start singing again.  In one scene, it shows Kelly, James and Kelly's friend Bo all in one scene together.  This is the scene when she is singing on stage at her concert in Dallas, Texas.  It shows Mis en scene because Kelly is on stage singing which shows that she is the center of attention to the people.  It also shows Bo in front of the stage and James behind the stage and she can look at Bo because he is in front of the stage whereas James in behind stage and she can't see him at all during the show.  Also, lighting makes it obvious that Kelly is the center of attention too.  She has a spotlight on her and she is the most lit person in the room . It shows the whole audience in darkness and James and Bo are lit up only a little bit to show that they're more important that the audience but not as important as Kelly.  Another film technique used is in the mis en scene, the fans are yelling and screaming to show their love for Kelly.  In other scenes, sometimes they boo her, other times they dont say anything but in this particular scene they show how much they love her.  Country Strong is a great movie and the film techniques were used so well to help bring the emotions together.
