Chelsea Lately

Chelsea Lately is a late night talk show on the E! Network hosted by Chelsea Handler. Although her hysterical writers/comedians and essential sidekick, Chuy, are unique aspects of her show, Chelsea herself is the key. Chelsea’s comedy, book, movie, and television careers have succeeded because of a special quality she possesses. She is not afraid to expose her personal life to the media. In fact, she tells us her darkest secrets and most embarrassing stories before the tabloids can even get a hold of them. She is unafraid to mock her childhood, family, and day to day life on the air. For example, in a recent episode, her opening monologue was focused on her experience at the Vanity Fair after-Oscars-party. She charmed her audience by laughing at her own alcohol and drug use, plus an embarrassing voicemail she left a coworker. To take exposed private life to the next level, she has a segment called “Home with the Handlers”. This is filmed in her house where nothing is off limits. Anything can happen in Chelsea’s house but I guarantee it will be shown on her show. She openly mocks her religion, political views, and personal life. As a result, viewers instantly fall in love with her sarcastic sense of humor. A celebrity willing to open up is rare, and Chelsea completely owns it. She doesn’t take anything too seriously and makes it clear that she isn’t trying to impress anyone. Chelsea is definitely one of a kind and we love her for it.
