BIG BANG 2

The Big BangTheory is still one of the funniest shows on television today. This weeks episode " The Weekend Vortex" is no different. The basic plot is Leonard, Sheldan, Raj and Howard want to have all weekend Star Wars marathon but their girlfriends made the weekend go differently then was expected. There were several funny quotes throughout the episode such as when sheldon and Amy are in an argument and sheldon saws " The fact that the right way is also my way is a happy coincidence and when penny is talking to amy and says "sicly is the sexy" are just a couple of very funny lines in the show. Ignoring the quality of the show i am also impressed with how well they advertise thought the show. During this whole series not just the show is there a lot of advertising, in this episode a counted a 6 specific examples. The most obvious one being  Star Wars, thats because thought the whole episode they are playing  a new Star Was game. Also when Raj is taking out supplies for the weekend we the viewer can clearly see a Michlob Ultra and Sobe Water on the counter. Lastly when all the guys are playing the game sheldon is eating twirlers and drinking Coolade and Leonard is clearly drinking a Sundrop. With this show and many other sitcoms when two people are talking to each other the camera switch back and for to who is talking. This happens in this episode when sheldon and amy are arguing and when Leonard is discuss his plans for the Star Wars weekend with penny. That is way I love the Big Bang Theory so much.

  1. First off, I have to agree. Big Bang is such a great show and I also agree with the advertising. More and more films are using this technique. Even going back to when E.T. first came out, the directors used the delicious Reese’s in one of scenes, getting exposure of the candy out into the public. I recently watched a Seinfeld episode that mirrored what The Big Bang Theory and E.T. did. The whole episode revolved around Junior Mints. Kramer eats the yummy treats during his friends operation and insists that Jerry tries one. Obsessed with the candy, Kramer forces one in front of Jerry, who accidentally knocks it over the railing and into the patient on the operating table. When George asks why the doctors didn’t notice it, Jerry smirks and replies, “It’s a ‘junior’ mint.” The show continues to advertise the candy with positive comments. Kramer says, “Who’s gonna turn down a Junior Mint? It’s chocolate, it’s peppermint. It’s delicious…It’s refreshing!” The show really gets the audience laughing when the doctor tells everyone that the operation was a miracle and that there were other factors that led to his recovery, like a gift from above. It’s at this point that the camera focuses on Kramer, who produces the box of Junior Mints from his pocket. Is the candy really so good that it can cure disease? Who knows? It’s delicious, it’s refreshing, it’s got a 20 minute advertisement on Seinfeld--It’s Junior Mints.
