Star Wars Episode 1
Over the weekend I went to the movies and saw Star Wars Phantom Menace in 3d. I am not ashamed to say I absolutely love Star Wars. In this film, the pod racing scene made my eyes glued to screen and I couldn't look away. There were a lot of things happening in this scene and it was really intense. The reason for the intensity and suspense was from the camera work they used in this scene. There were a lot of short shots and cuts to make it more exciting and let the audience know that there is action going on. Also in this scene there is a lot of tracking going to follow the speeders to add a more intensfied feeling. There is no music being played until the final lap between Anakin Skywalker and Sebulba where the music is fast pace. When Sebulba's pod was beginning to demolish, the music stopped and then it blew up. The music stopping represented Sebulba's loss of the race and Anakin's confidence to finish the race with no fear. Once he won the race there was cheer and the music played more up beat and it gave off a feeling of happiness and relieve.

I have also seen his movie and I also noticed that the camera work was short cuts throughout most of the film. like when the good guys obi wan and qui gan jinn are fighting darth mall. the film was cut petty much every time the light sabers hit each other which was atleast 200 times which resulted in like 200 short cuts. the film used lots of sound effects with when they people are shooting and when the light sabers hit each other. also as darth mall kills qui gan jinn and obi wan runs over to him the music in the back round cuts out and then slowly builds up to show the obi wan is ready for some revenge agenst the dark seth lord. there is also a point in the movie that the music is quite and slowly builds up. the music starts to build up when the druids or bad guys start to march on the weird underwater good guys, and this music stays at a high level until the good guys have to surrender. Another part when the music builds up is when Anakin is in space and attacking the bad guys space station. Anakin flies into the space station and stalls his engine and can't start it. which this is when the sound come in to build suspense to make you wonder if he will make it out alive. after the sound starts to build up the plane starts and Anakin is able to fly away safely.
ReplyDeleteI have also seen the Phantom Menace in 3D. I have always been a Star Wars fan, and after seeing the first one again, I can say that I am still a big fan. The part of the movie that really stood out to me was the last half hour. This was the part of the movie when the Naboo fought to take their planet back. Throughout these scenes, the action becomes more and more intense, with many short camera cuts. These extremely short scenes, along with the accompanying music, make for a very dramatic and exciting ending. The music stops, however, at the most intense part of the film, when Obi-Wan and Darth Maul are standing face to face on opposite sides of a transparent wall. This stop in the music lets the viewer focus entirely on the visuals on the screen. At the very end of the movie, the camera work is very good in setting the mood of the scene. There is a extreme longshot showing the celebrating people of Naboo, along with celebratory music. This expresses just how much the natives are happy to win the war. This scene is very joyous, and it shows that the conflict is finally over.
