On last week’s episode of Vampire Diaries, Elena has to go a
road trip with Damon to go find her brother to save him from Clause. Stephan
made her go so she could find out if she really had feelings for Damon. Thought this episode the make the lighting
very dime to make the feel like it’s creepy. In one part when they find her brother and
evil Cole is already there but the director put a shadow across his face to
create the feel like he is evil. The director also but a montage into the beginning
of the show between what Elena does in the morning to what Stephen is doing and
then on to Damon. It started off really
slow but started to get faster as they started to do the same things. Also, throughout the episode they have low
angles of Stephen to make him appear higher than Damon at first but as the
episode goes on and on the camera angles of Damon change from high angle into
low to show that hes changing into a good player in the game.

The Vampire Diaries is currently one of my favorite shows on TV, mainly because it’s the perfect combination of romance, drama, and action. On last week’s episode, sound plays a very important part in setting the mood of the different scenes. For example, in the scene where Cole attacks Damon, the music is fast and intense, making the scene much more suspenseful. In contrast, in the scene with Elena and Damon, where Elena realizes she does have feelings for Damon, the music is slow and has a romantic tone. The camera work is also very important in this episode because the camera zooms in on characters’ faces to clearly show the characters emotions and how he or she is reacting to something. For example, when Damon and Elena are talking, there is a close up shot of both of their faces and through their facial expressions, you can see that they really do care about each other. Also, there are close up shots of Stephen, when he discovers that Elena has feelings for Damon, so that you can fully understand how hurt he is, which is evident based on his facial expressions.
