Two and a Half Men

I am a huge fan of this comedy show about two brothers. While one is a dorky guy who plays it safe and the other is a 40 year old party boy, they both get into such mischief. However, much of the shows comic elements come from a juxtaposition of scenes involving Alan’s son. His childlike innocence and oblivion to the adult world makes his character hilarious. For example, in one scene, while his uncle and father are having an adult conversation, Jake simply walks in, eager to show off his new magic trick. Throughout the episode, Jake continues to make these appearances, interrupting an inappropriate conversation, providing some comic relief for the audience. Along with the childlike innocence, the show also displays the thought process of a young kid. Children have different priorities and expectations. For Jake’s birthday, his grandmother bought him Calvin Klein clothing. After opening the box, Jake has a face of disappointment. His grandmother tries to convince him that girl will be impressed by the clothes. As a young boy who likes card and sports, clothes weren’t a propriety at his age. A major part of the shows comedy is letting the viewers see how naïve a young child’s mind is and its simple humor.
